The Men's Health Awareness Open Day 2018 was held at The Outspan Hospital on Saturday, 30th June with the theme "Mwanaume ni Sauti, Sauti ni Afya". A large number of men, both young and old attended the event where free medical services were provided. The services included medical consultation, laboratory tests, pharmacy services among others. This annual event aims to spread awareness on the common health issues affecting men and also test and provide free treatment for the same.
The International Nurses Week 2018 Climax took place in Nyeri County with a procession from the County Referral Hospital to the Outspan Medical College Grounds where the event was held. In attendance were delegates from all over of the country led by national and county nursing officials. The Guest of Honour Hon. Sabina Wanjiru Chege (Women Representative - Muranga County and Chairperson of the National Assembly Health Committee) was accompanied by counterpart Hon. Gladwell Jesire (Baringo Women Representative and Member of the National Assembly Health Committee) emphasized the need for nurses and other medical professionals to restructure their mindsets to focus more on the people. She also expressed her support for the current proposal in the parliament that seeks to have the devolved funds allocated for health be directly disbursed to the health institutions. She concluded by pointing out the importance of nurses as everyone at a point went through the hands of a nurse and appreciated the organizers for the invitation.
