Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. Cancer screening services available at the Outspan Hospital are among others: CT scan, MRI, Ultrasound, Tumour markers and others and that gives us an advantage in managing and preventing cancer cases. At Outspan Hospital we have a nine bed, day care cancer unit accredited by NHIF.
The main services are administration of chemotherapy for patients diagnosed with different cancers and provision of palliative care services in order to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The departmental staff comprises of a multidisciplinary team which includes the Oncologist, Medical Officer, Oncology Nurses, Palliative Care Nurses, Physician, Psychologist, and others who all play diverse roles in the care, treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients.
