Responsibilities
- Collaboratively develop a Comprehensive Counseling Policy with the Principal and Dean
of Students for approval by board of director’s - Develop and maintain a well written plan for effective delivery of the college counseling
programs based on best practice approaches and in line with the laid down standards - Maintain current and appropriate resources for education stakeholders.
- Maintain documentation on all counseling visits/ sessions and any incidences that require
counselling - Use data to develop comprehensive programs that meet student and provide quarterly
reports to the principal - Provide leadership and collaborate with other departments in offering best counselling
practices - Participate in professional development activities to improve knowledge and skills.
- Use available technology resources to enhance the college counseling program.
- Adhere to laws, policies, procedures, and ethical standards of the counseling profession.
- Conduct a yearly audit to review the counselling needs and trends in the college, and the
extent to which the counselling programs in the college is effective in its implementation,
based on the data collected and analyzed. - Plan with the support of the principal/ Dean of Students on delivery of routine wellness
sessions for students and employees in the college. - Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma or Degree in Counselling Psychology from a recognized
institution; - At least five years’ experience in institutional counselling
- Previous experience in a training institution will be an added advantage
- Must be a good communicator
- Must possess active listening skills
- Empathetic in nature
- Must be result driven, goal oriented and accountable
- Exceptional logic and critical thinking skills
